Travel Weekly: New Margaritaville resort a contender for meetings business
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Since the 1950s, the Diplomat Resort has ruled Hollywood Beach. Now there’s a new game in town, in the form of the 349-room Margaritaville Beach Resort, which opens this month.
Where the Dip, as locals call it, is corporate, Margaritaville has the laid-back beach shack atmosphere inspired by singer Jimmy Buffett’s lifestyle and music. Lyrics from his songs laud the worry-free life on plaques around the property.
But don’t get the wrong idea. Although its tropical bona fides are strong, Margaritaville has been executed with high quality and the resort will be a strong option for meetings and groups.
A 12,000-square-foot ballroom is ringed with an additional 18,000 square feet of breakout space. There is a spa on property, stocked with Buffett’s St. Somewhere line of beauty products.
